Our Story

Married chefs Kelly Sheridan and Alex FitzGerald met at the Culinary Institute of Canada in Charlottetown PEI in 2010 where they bonded over their passion for exceptional and memorable food service. They’ve continued to work alongside one another, devoting their careers to a focus on local and seasonal ingredients, developing a culinary style that highlights the flavours of the region and the product.

After living and working for eight years in Alex’s home province of Newfoundland, Kelly and Alex then moved to the Annapolis Valley for two years and now they and their two children have returned to Prince Edward Island, where Kelly was born and raised, to set down family and business roots.

They are thrilled to begin offering curated dining experiences to Islanders and tourists alike in such a wonderful place as French River. The property has significant history in the area, having been home to many businesses over the years, such as a general store and different restaurants, including a diner called the White Anchor Canteen. Kelly is originally from the area and was always proud to be living along the gorgeous North Shores of PEI. Thus, combining the history of the property and the love of the area resulted in the new name of the business, North Shore Canteen.
